Are pumpkin seeds good for diabetics?

My sugar levels have been a bit high lately, and the doctor told me to eat healthier snacks. My bahu brought some pumpkin seeds home, saying they are very healthy. I was wondering, are pumpkin seeds good for people with diabetes?

My mom was diagnosed with borderline diabetes recently, so we have been researching a lot. Pumpkin seeds are actually great because they are rich in magnesium, which helps regulate blood sugar. I just roast them lightly without oil and she has a small spoonful daily.

Haan na, they are very good for health. They have lots of fiber and healthy fats which stop sugar spikes. Just buy the unsalted ones, swallow a handful as a snack, and you are good to go.

They are a great low-carb snack option for diabetics. Packed with plant protein and good fats, they keep you full for longer. Combine a handful of these seeds with your daily workout routine to keep your insulin levels stable.

According to my endocrinologist, pumpkin seeds contain active compounds like trigonelline and nicotinic acid which have hypoglycemic properties. They are excellent for insulin sensitivity. However, keep the portion size to 15-30 grams daily as they are calorie-dense.

We have tried so many seeds and home remedies for my husband's diabetes over the years. Pumpkin seeds are definitely helpful and safe to eat. But remember, they don't replace your regular diabetes medicine, so keep taking your prescription properly.

In our traditional cooking, we never threw away pumpkin seeds; we dried them in the sun and roasted them. They are very cooling for the body and help control sugar levels naturally. Eat a small handful daily, but always keep testing your blood sugar.
