Are prunes good for your liver?

After my last check-up, the doctor mentioned my liver enzymes were a bit off, nothing serious but to be careful. A friend suggested including more dried fruits like prunes in my diet for overall well-being. Can prunes actually help in keeping the liver healthy?

I read that prunes are high in antioxidants which might help with oxidative stress in the body. But honestly, as someone dealing with PCOS, I have learned that no single food can heal an organ. It's better to consult your general physician for proper liver health guidance.

I was also looking into this because my liver enzyme report came slightly high last week and I got super worried. Has anyone else tried adding prunes to their diet for liver health, and did it actually make any difference in your reports?

From what I know, the fiber in prunes helps reduce cholesterol, which indirectly reduces the load on your liver. But if you have issues like fatty liver, lifestyle changes and regular doctor checkups are a must. I also monitor my BP and liver parameters every six months.

Prunes are quite costly in local grocery shops. Instead of spending heavily on imported dried fruits for liver health, it is much wiser to first spend 600-800 rupees on a basic Liver Function Test (LFT). That way you know exactly what is wrong before planning any diet.

Prunes are packed with antioxidants which are great for overall health, including the liver! Just don't overdo them because they can be a bit heavy on the stomach. Keep smiling and eat healthy! 😊
