Are pistachios kidney friendly?

My doctor recently put me on a special diet because of my kidney condition, and I have to watch my potassium and phosphorus intake. I love pistachios, but I'm not sure if they are safe. Are pistachios considered kidney-friendly?

For healthy people who workout regularly, pistachios are perfectly fine. But if you have any chronic kidney disease, you'll need to watch your phosphorus intake and limit them.

Pistachios are high in potassium and phosphorus. If you have any pre-existing kidney issues, you need to be very careful with them as your kidneys might struggle to filter these minerals.

High blood pressure can strain the kidneys over time. If you eat pistachios, make sure they are strictly unsalted to keep your blood pressure stable, and get your kidney function checked regularly.

In old age, our kidney strength naturally decreases. Drinking lots of water and eating barley water is good, but go easy on heavy nuts like pistachios to keep the kidneys light.

I can finish a whole tub of pistachios while watching a movie, but apparently, they are packed with potassium. If your kidneys are sensitive, maybe swap them for a lighter snack.
