Are period cramps equivalent to a heart attack?

During my cycle, the cramps are often unbearable, leaving me unable to do anything. I've heard some women say this pain is equivalent to a heart attack. Can anyone shed light on whether period pain can really be that severe?

I used to have cramps so bad that I would throw up and faint, and my doctor literally told me that severe dysmenorrhea pain can be compared to heart attack levels. I just got treated for an ovarian cyst last month, and the pain is finally gone. Please don't ignore extreme pain.

I was reading an article where a medical researcher stated that severe menstrual cramps can be as painful as a heart attack. It's eye-opening because society often downplays it. If anyone is experiencing that level of pain, they should definitely see a doctor.

For mild cramps, a warm heating pad and some chamomile or ginger tea work beautifully. But if your pain is so intense that you are comparing it to a heart attack, home remedies won't cut it. You must see a gynecologist to investigate the cause.

Yes, some medical literature supports the claim that the nerve pain from extreme cramps can match heart attack intensity. But let's be practical: if you are in that much pain, go get an ultrasound done. Don't just sit and suffer or assume it's normal.

I spent years taking heavy painkillers and ignoring excruciating period cramps, thinking it was just 'part of being a woman.' It turned out to be severe stage 4 endometriosis which damaged my tubes. Please, if your pain is that extreme, get checked by a specialist immediately.

Haan, kuch medical studies mein ye bola gaya hai ki severe period pain heart attack jitna bura ho sakta hai. Par agar sach mein itna zyada dard ho raha hai na, toh use normal mat samjho. Doctor ke paas jaakar checkup karwana hi sabse best hai.

My cramps are so intense that my chest sometimes feels tight and I get completely breathless. Is it normal to feel this level of extreme pain, or does anyone else feel like they are literally having a medical emergency every month? I am so scared.

I literally can't even get out of my hostel bed on day one, so to me, it definitely feels like a heart attack in my uterus! It is so painful and frustrating. If your cramps are this crazy, we really need to get them checked by a doc.

I don't have a uterus but watching my wife double over in pain makes me believe it's easily equivalent to a heart attack or worse. She literally can't sleep for two nights straight. Seriously though, please see a gynecologist if the pain is that brutal.

Yes, medically, severe cramps can indeed reach that level of pain intensity. Please consult a qualified gynecologist to find safe pain relief options.
