Are oranges ok to eat after vomiting?

I had a stomach bug and vomited quite a bit today. I'm feeling a bit weak now and just want something light. Would an orange be okay to eat to help me feel better after vomiting, or should I wait?

I highly recommend avoiding oranges right after vomiting. The citric acid can really irritate your raw stomach lining and trigger another round of throwing up. Stick to bland foods like toast, rice water, or coconut water for at least a few hours first.

Nahi yaar, vomiting ke turant baad oranges bilkul mat khao. Acidic hote hain na, toh stomach mein bohot jalan hogi. Thoda sa dahi-chawal ya normal paani piyo pehle, jab pet thoda set ho jaye tabhi kuch aur sochna.

Unless you want to taste orange juice going backward, I would say wait, haha! Seriously, citrus and a recently upset stomach are worst enemies. Give your tummy a break and drink plain ORS water instead.

Actually, dont do it. I made this mistake in my hostel after a bad stomach bug and immediately regretted it because the acid made my throat burn like crazy. Just stick to normal water or electral till you feel 100% fine.

I was researching this because my flatmate was sick yesterday. Most medical sites say to avoid citrus fruits like oranges after vomiting because their high acid content can trigger nausea again. It is better to stick to the BRAT diet (bananas, rice, applesauce, toast) initially.

In my long experience, after your stomach has been cleared out by vomiting, it remains very sensitive. Oranges are too sour and sharp for it right away. Drink some warm ginger water or plain black tea, and let your body rest first. Don't worry, you will feel better soon.
