Are nuts bad for kidney stones?

I've had kidney stones twice before, and I'm trying to be careful with my diet. A friend recently mentioned that nuts can be bad if you're prone to stones. Is there any truth to this?

Yes, many nuts like almonds and cashews are very high in oxalates, which are the main culprits behind kidney stones. If you have a history of stones, it's best to limit them and drink plenty of water. Always get a 24-hour urine test done to understand your specific stone type.

Bro, I had calcium oxalate kidney stones last year and my doctor told me to stay away from nuts, especially almonds. They are packed with oxalates, which can make stones worse. Better to check with your urologist before eating them.

Please don't ignore advice on diet if you've had even minor back pain. I neglected my diet, kept eating almonds daily, and ended up in the emergency room with severe kidney stone pain. Go get a proper consultation and diet plan from your doctor right away.

I have tried everything from barley water to coconut water for my stones, and they really help flush things out. However, cutting down on high-oxalate foods like nuts is equally important to stop new ones from forming. Be careful with your diet and stay hydrated.

Don't stress too much about this. Yes, nuts have oxalates, but you don't have to cut out everything you love; just moderate the portions and keep drinking at least 3 liters of water daily. Go talk to your doctor, they will guide you safely.

Let's be clear: if you are prone to kidney stones, mindlessly munching on nuts is a bad idea. They can definitely trigger stone formation due to oxalates. Stop guessing your diet online and get a proper list of allowed foods from your doctor.

Hi! Peanuts, almonds, and cashews are indeed high in oxalates, which can bind with calcium to form stones. If you do eat them occasionally, try having them with a calcium-rich food so they bind in your gut instead of your kidneys. Definitely check with your urologist first.

Oh god, kidney stones sound so incredibly painful and I constantly worry about getting them. Hearing that healthy snacks like nuts can cause them makes me so anxious about what to eat. Please make sure to get regular checkups so you can catch any issues early.

While nuts are great for healthy fats and clean protein in a fitness diet, they can be risky if you have kidney stone issues. Balance is key, so make sure your water intake is very high to keep flushing your system. Always consult your doctor to tailor your nutrition plan safely.

Drinking lots of lemon water daily can help prevent stones naturally, but you must avoid foods like nuts and spinach if your stones are of the oxalate type. However, if you experience sudden, severe side pain, please do not wait for home remedies and see a doctor immediately.

I'm not an expert on kidney health, but from what I've researched, some nuts are high in oxalates which might not be ideal for stone sufferers. Since everyone's body is different, it is probably safest to ask your doctor or a clinical nutritionist what foods you should avoid.
