Are lima beans good for diabetics?

I have diabetes and am always looking for new vegetables to add to my diet that won't spike my sugar. My wife bought some lima beans, and I was wondering if they are a good option for diabetics. Are they low on the glycemic index?

They are actually great because they have slow-digesting carbs and high fiber. I usually eat them boiled and then go for a brisk walk to keep my glucose levels flat. Just make sure your doctor clears you for regular daily exercise.

I used to ignore my high sugar levels and eat whatever 'healthy' foods people recommended, which landed me in the hospital once. Now I know that even healthy beans can affect sugar if not eaten in the right portion. Please consult your doctor and get your HbA1c checked regularly.

Yes, lima beans are generally very good for diabetics because of their low glycemic index. Just keep the portions moderate and eat them along with other vegetables.

I tried so many home remedies for my husband's diabetes, from bitter gourd juice to different beans. Lima beans do help in keeping him full and stable, but they work best when combined with a simple home-cooked diet and doctor's advice.

Look boss, lima beans are healthy and full of fiber, but don't think they are a miracle cure. You still have to monitor your blood sugar and cut down on sugar and maida. Go see your doctor for a proper plan.

I am no expert so I won't give medical advice, but my dad's nutritionist added lima beans to his diet chart. He eats them in salads and it hasn't caused any sudden sugar spikes for him. You should check with your own doctor once.

Eating simple boiled lima beans is a very good natural way to get fiber and manage hunger. But if your sugar levels are fluctuating too much or you feel very dizzy, please don't rely on diet changes alone. See your doctor immediately.
