Are lentils kidney friendly?

My uncle has chronic kidney disease and has to be very careful with his diet. He loves lentils, but we're not sure if they're safe for someone with kidney problems. Are lentils considered kidney-friendly food options?

Since I have high BP, I have to be very careful about my kidney health. Lentils do have phosphorus and potassium, so you need to be cautious. I highly recommend regular kidney function tests and keeping your BP in check with proper doctor consultations.

Lentils are super healthy for most people, but they do have a good amount of potassium and phosphorus. 😊 If you have any kidney issues, it is always a good idea to chat with your doctor first. Take care! 👍

Look, if you don't have any kidney disease, moderate consumption of home-cooked dal is perfectly fine. But if there is an existing issue, don't try any home remedies or self-dieting. Go to a government or private hospital, get a simple blood test done, and show it to a doctor.

It actually depends on your current kidney health stage. On my health tracker app, I see that lentils are packed with potassium, which might need to be restricted for some renal diets. It is best to track your daily intake and get a personalized meal plan from a clinical dietician.

Consult a nephrologist

We consult a nephrologist at Apollo Hospital for my brother, and they gave us a very specific list of allowed foods. Lentils are not always recommended in large quantities for kidney patients because of the mineral load. Please ask your doctor clearly before adding them to your daily meals.

Haan na, kidney health is very delicate, we cannot play with it. Some people say soaking the dals for a long time helps reduce the potassium, but honestly, risk why to take? Better to consult a proper doc and then eat, na.

I completely understand how stressful it is to worry about every single thing you eat when you are dealing with kidney health fears. I used to cry thinking about food restrictions. Please don't panic, just sit with a good doctor who can give you a safe, clear diet plan to ease your mind.
