Are leg cramps a sign of diabetes?

Lately, I've been getting really bad leg cramps, especially at night. My older brother has diabetes, and I heard somewhere that leg cramps can be a symptom. Should I be concerned about this, or is it just old age, maybe?

Yes, leg cramps can sometimes be linked to diabetic neuropathy or poor circulation. It is very important to get your HbA1c checked by a doctor.

Frequent leg cramps, especially at night, can indeed be a sign of diabetic nerve damage or mineral imbalance. I suggest you book a fasting blood sugar test and show it to a doctor.

I get cramps sometimes after eating too much junk food and neglecting water. While cramps can be from dehydration, they can also point to high sugar. Definitely get a simple blood test done to be safe.

They can be a sign, but they also happen due to simple magnesium or vitamin D deficiency. Having PCOS makes me double-check my blood reports regularly. Please visit a doctor for a proper panel test.

My severe leg cramps stopped only after my doctor adjusted my diabetes medication and I started managing my sugar levels better. Don't ignore this; get your sugar tested immediately.
