Are kidney stones uric acid?

My doctor mentioned that my kidney stone was made of uric acid. I always thought they were made of calcium. Are kidney stones always uric acid, or are there different types?

Some kidney stones are made of uric acid, but calcium oxalate is more common. Don't waste time guessing which one you have. Get a quick urine test and consult a doctor so you can start the right treatment.

Uric acid stones are one type, especially if you have high uric acid in your blood. But there are calcium and struvite stones too. It is best to let a doctor analyze the stone or run tests to find out.

I had uric acid stones due to a high-purine diet. The doctor put me on specific medications to alkalinize my urine and told me to cut down on certain foods. Get your stone analyzed if you pass it, it helps in future prevention.

Yes, high uric acid can lead to stones, but you must get it checked by a proper physician. Self-diagnosing based on internet articles can be unsafe. Please get your kidney function and uric acid levels tested.

I know how stressful it is to read about all these chemical names like uric acid. It made me so anxious when I first heard it. Just take a deep breath and let the doctor do the tests, they will handle it easily.

Haan na, uric acid stones are quite common, especially if your hydration is low. Mere chacha ko bhi yahi hua tha. Thoda pani jyada piya karo and doctor checkup karlo.

Uric acid stones are indeed a major type. If you have them, you might need to adjust your diet to reduce purine-rich foods. But please consult a dietician or your doctor before making major food changes.
