Are kidney beans good for your kidneys?

My father has some kidney issues, and I'm trying to eat foods that support kidney health. I often hear that kidney beans are good for kidneys. Is this true, or just a myth because of the name?

Haan na, actually they look exactly like kidneys so people think they are automatically good. But they have lots of potassium, so if someone already has kidney issues, they need to be careful.

I was researching this yesterday and read that for healthy kidneys, the antioxidants and fiber are great. But for chronic kidney disease patients, the high phosphorus and potassium might be a problem. Quite interesting!

I am new here and actually wanted to ask... does cooking them differently reduce the potassium? I read somewhere that boiling them twice helps, but I'm not really sure if that's true.

Agreed. For healthy individuals, they are good, but those with existing kidney issues must avoid them.

Bro, my brain is too tired to process how a bean shaped like a kidney can actually be tricky for your kidneys. I just eat my dinner and hope for the best at this point!

Hey, don't stress too much about it! Unless you have a specific medical condition, eating normal portions of rajma is totally fine and healthy. Enjoy your meals without worrying!

Please be very careful. My uncle had mild kidney dysfunction and we didn't know; eating high-potassium foods like kidney beans made his reports worse. Always get your renal function tested if you feel unusually tired.

There are so many myths online saying certain foods cleanse your organs. Don't believe all that. Only a nephrologist can tell you what is safe for your kidneys based on your blood reports.
