Are itchy armpits a sign of diabetes?

Recently, I've noticed my armpits are quite itchy and sometimes even look a bit discolored. I'm worried because I heard itching can be related to blood sugar issues. Could this be a sign of diabetes?

Itchy armpits are usually caused by sweat, yeast infections, or a reaction to deodorants. However, diabetes can make you more prone to fungal infections in warm, moist areas of the body. If the itching persists despite keeping it dry, a quick blood test is a wise idea.

My family physician explained that persistent itching in skin folds, like the underarms, can sometimes be a sign of undiagnosed diabetes. Elevated blood glucose feeds Candida, a type of yeast, leading to frequent infections. It is best to check your HbA1c levels to rule this out.

I get fungal skin issues easily because of insulin resistance linked to my PCOS. Itching under the arms can be related to high insulin, but it could also just be a simple skin allergy. Don't stress too much, just get your sugar levels checked to be safe.

Please do not ignore this or try to self-treat with random creams. If it is related to diabetes, it needs proper medical management. Go to a general physician, get your blood sugar profile done, and let them guide you safely.

In our younger days, we used a little neem water wash for any skin itching, as it keeps infections away. But if the itching is deep and won't go away, it might be due to internal heat or sugar. You must visit a clinic and get your blood tested, beta.
