Are ice chips good for vomiting?

My child has been vomiting since morning and can't keep anything down. My grandmother suggested giving ice chips. Is this actually a good idea to help with hydration and reduce the vomiting?

Actually, yes! I had a terrible stomach bug last week and couldn't keep even a sip of water down. Sucking on tiny ice chips slowly was the only thing that worked. It keeps your mouth wet without overloading your stomach.

Sucking on ice can keep you hydrated, but you need to be very careful. If the vomiting doesn't stop or if you can't even keep water down, please don't wait at home. Better to visit a clinic nearby and get checked before dehydration gets bad.

Don't stress too much, buddy, this phase will pass. Just crush some ice, keep a bowl next to you, and have a tiny bit at a time. It really helps calm the urge to throw up. Lie down and put on a nice light show on your phone.

Honestly, vomiting makes me feel so helpless and exhausted, I completely understand what you are going through. Ice chips really helped soothe my throat and nausea when I felt like crying from the weakness. Please go slow and take rest.

At my age, even looking at greasy food makes me feel sick sometimes! Yes, ice chips are a lifesaver ghar pe. Better than trying to drink hot chai or heavy juices when your stomach is doing gymnastics.

They are quite helpful because gulping glassfuls of water will just trigger more vomiting. Crush the ice very small and just let it melt in your mouth slowly. Once your stomach settles for an hour or two, you can slowly switch to electoral or ORS water.

I panicked so hard the first time my doctor told me to give my kid ice chips instead of water during a stomach flu. I thought cold things would make it worse! But honestly, it worked like magic to soothe the stomach lining. It is totally normal and safe.

I always worry when vomiting starts because of dehydration risks. Ice chips are safe but make sure the water used to freeze them was absolutely clean and filtered. If you feel dizzy or your urine is very dark, please call a doctor immediately.

Yes, they are great. Sucking on ice chips helps prevent dehydration when you can't swallow liquids.

Yes, ice is good, but make sure not to consume anything else like heavy solid foods or dairy right now. Once you feel a bit stable after the ice chips, try some light ginger tea or warm vegetable broth in very small sips to soothe the gut.
