Are hiccups a sign of a stroke?

My elderly aunt recently had a persistent bout of hiccups that lasted for hours, and someone mentioned it could be a sign of something serious like a stroke. I always thought hiccups were harmless. Can hiccups actually be a symptom of a stroke?

Getting an MRI or CT scan done just because of normal hiccups will cost you thousands of rupees unnecessarily. But if the hiccups are constant and come with numbness or slurred speech, go straight to a government hospital where emergency tests are done quickly and cheaply. Don't ignore actual symptoms to save money.

Man, if hiccups were a sign of a stroke, I would have died ten times last night. I was awake till 4 AM trying to drink water upside down to stop them. Usually, it is just gas or eating too fast, so let's not get mini heart attacks from reading Google diagnoses.

In our times, we never associated hiccups with such scary diseases. Usually, it is just a sign that your body needs hydration or you ate too quickly. Try keeping a small piece of mishri in your mouth or slowly sipping cold water, and see if it stops.

As someone managing high blood pressure for ten years, I always keep a watch on neurological signs. Normal hiccups are completely harmless, but if you have high BP and the hiccups are accompanied by sudden dizziness or difficulty speaking, please get your pressure checked immediately. Regular checkups are a must.

Oh god, this post literally triggered my health anxiety because I had persistent hiccups last week and thought the worst. Did anyone else here actually experience continuous hiccups for hours and it turned out to be absolutely nothing? Please tell me I'm not the only one who gets scared like this.

Haan na, internet search karo toh head ache ko bhi brain tumor bol dete hain! Hiccups are very normal, don't worry unnecessarily. Just sit quietly, hold your breath for ten seconds, and relax. Agar baki symptoms hain tabhi doc ke paas jao, ho na?

I literally just got back from the clinic yesterday for non-stop hiccups that lasted two days. The doctor told me it was just severe acid reflux irritating my diaphragm and gave me an antacid. Unless you have facial drooping or arm weakness, it is highly unlikely to be a stroke.
