Are fresh cherries good for diabetics?

Fresh cherries, when in season, are something I really enjoy, but I have diabetes and need to be careful with sugar. Can I safely eat fresh cherries, or are they too high in natural sugars for a diabetic person?

Actually, cherries have a relatively low glycemic index of around 22, which is quite safe. My diabetologist told me that I can have about 10 to 12 fresh cherries as a mid-morning snack. Just avoid the canned ones in syrup as they are loaded with extra sugar.

Please don't go by what people claim online about fruits curing diabetes. Everyone's body reacts differently to fructose, and even natural sugars can cause a spike. Get your HbA1c checked and ask your doctor how many cherries you can safely eat based on your reports.

In my experience, eating a few fresh cherries in their natural state morning time is quite beneficial. Combined with regular daily walks and deep breathing, it helps keep the body balanced. Just listen to your body and don't overindulge.

I know how frustrating it is when you just want to enjoy a simple fruit but have to constantly worry about numbers and spikes. It really takes a toll on your mind. Cherries are usually fine in small quantities, so don't feel guilty about wanting to taste them.

My dad has diabetes and he absolutely loves cherries! We just make sure he only eats a small bowl during the day, never at night. It's a great alternative to sweets when those post-lunch cravings hit, just keep the portion size small.

Since I deal with thyroid issues along with fluctuating blood sugar, I've realized nothing works without regular monitoring. Cherries might be fine, but you should keep checking your post-prandial levels. Do consult your doctor to adjust your diet plan based on your latest blood tests.

Haan, fresh cherries are actually quite good for sugar patients na. Merely 10-12 pieces khane se sugar seedha nahi bhaagti. Bas dhyan rakhna ki market waale canned cherry mat le aana, usme toh bohot sugar syrup hota hai.

Look, cherries can be expensive and hard to find fresh depending on where you live. If they are in season, buy a small pack and have 8-10 pieces. If not, don't worry, local fruits like jamun or guava are much cheaper and actually excellent for diabetes.

My teenager was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, so we have to be very careful. Fresh cherries are great because they have antioxidants and don't spike her sugar if given in limited quantities. I usually pack about 8 cherries in her tiffin box as a healthy snack.

Being a foodie with sugar issues is the worst combination ever! Luckily, cherries are a lifesaver when you want something sweet and juicy. I eat about ten of them chilled, feels like a dessert and doesn't mess up my sugar levels too badly.

I am not an expert, but my grandfather has had diabetes for fifteen years. He eats fresh cherries whenever they are in season, usually around midday. We haven't noticed any sudden sugar spikes from them, but he always sticks to a very small portion.

Please don't worry too much. You can definitely enjoy fresh cherries in moderation, just make sure to monitor your blood sugar afterwards to see how your body reacts to them. Take care of your health.

Yes, fresh cherries are totally fine because of their low GI. Just remember to eat them raw and don't juice them.

Don't take these things lightly or make assumptions like I did. I ignored my high sugar symptoms for months thinking eating fruits was fine, and ended up in the hospital. Please get a proper sugar test done first, then discuss fruit portions with your doctor.

Haan na, managing sweet cravings in diabetes is so difficult. Cherries are safe in limit, but dry fruits are not good. Fresh cherries are better, bas thoda control mein khana chahiye. Jyada khayenge toh blood sugar badh jayega, ho na?
