Are figs good for diabetics?
My family loves to eat figs, especially the dried ones. I have type 2 diabetes, and I'm always careful about what I eat. Can diabetics safely include figs in their diet, or are they high in sugar?

Beta, in my forty years of dealing with diabetes, I have learned that no fruit is completely bad if you eat it in limits. Fresh figs are rich in fiber and good for health, but dried ones (anjeer) are very sweet. Just have one fresh fig occasionally and you will be absolutely fine.
Hey, don't stress too much about eating a fig now and then! Fresh figs actually have good fiber which is great for your gut. Just don't go overboard with the dried ones, and keep a small check on your daily sugar readings.
According to my endocrinologist, fresh figs have abscisic acid which can help improve glucose tolerance. However, dried figs have a much higher concentration of sugar per gram. My doctor suggested limiting it to one fresh fig a day and avoiding the dried ones completely.
Haan, fresh wale toh thode theek hain par dried anjeer bilkul avoid karo, na. Dried figs me sugar content bohot high ho jata hai jo humare liye safe nahi hai. Apne doctor se ek baar pooch kar hi diet me add karna.
I totally understand how hard it is to manage sweet cravings with diabetes. I tried soaking a single dried fig overnight in water and eating it, which helped my digestion without causing a big sugar spike. But everyone's body is different, so please monitor your levels.
Arey, my husband has diabetes and he looks at dried anjeer like it's a piece of chocolate! They are okay in very small amounts because of the fiber, but if you eat them like snacks, your sugar reports will definitely make your doctor scold you.
I have been managing my type 2 diabetes for ten years now. Fresh figs are completely fine as long as you eat them with some protein like walnuts to slow down absorption. Avoid dried figs entirely, as they are a sugar bomb for our bodies.
