Are electrolytes good for vomiting?

My son has been vomiting quite a bit since morning, and I'm worried about him getting dehydrated. I always keep some electrolyte powder at home for such situations. Are electrolytes generally recommended when someone is actively vomiting?

Yes, because vomiting causes major loss of water and minerals like sodium and potassium. Drinking electrolyte-rich water helps replenish these quickly. Just drink it in very small, frequent sips so your stomach can tolerate it.

I know how completely drained and weak you feel after vomiting, it's honestly the worst feeling. Sipping on ORS slowly really helps pull you out of that intense exhaustion. Take it easy and let your body recover.

They are highly recommended to prevent dehydration. However, if you have high blood pressure, watch the sodium content in commercial electrolytes if you are drinking them in large quantities. Keep a check on your BP.

Yes, electrolytes are very helpful. I usually keep a few WHO-approved ORS packets handy for such emergencies. They help restore balance quickly without upsetting the system, just take slow sips.

Don't worry, vomiting makes everyone weak but drinking electrolytes will bring your energy back. Avoid eating heavy foods today and just focus on hydration. If the vomiting doesn't stop after a few hours, please see a doctor.
