Are diabetics allowed in the military?
I've always dreamt of joining the Indian Army, but I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes a few years back. My friend said it might be an issue. Can someone tell me if diabetics are allowed to join the military?

Honestly, with my kid crying all night, I can barely manage my own day, let alone military rules! But my cousin tried to join and got rejected because of Type 1. The training and field conditions are just too intense for maintaining insulin levels.
Please do not feel disheartened if there are restrictions. The military has very rigorous physical demands that make managing diabetes difficult. God has many other beautiful ways for you to serve the nation and society, so stay positive.
Beta, military duty is very tough, you have to survive in mountains and jungles where medicine is not easily available. That is why they do not allow children with diabetes to join. Focus on keeping your health good with simple home food and daily yoga.
I can barely climb two flights of stairs without huffing, so military is out for me anyway! But yes, typically the Indian Armed Forces have very strict medical standards, and chronic conditions like diabetes usually disqualify you. It's for safety.
Actually, yaar, the medical criteria for the Indian Army are super strict. If you have insulin-dependent diabetes, they don't allow it because of the crazy deployment conditions. Better to check their official medical guidelines website to be double sure.
