Are crackers good for diabetics?

I was diagnosed with diabetes recently, and I'm trying to figure out what snacks I can have. Sometimes I feel like having something crunchy like crackers. Are certain types of crackers okay for diabetics, or should I avoid them?

I tried so many wheat and oat crackers for my father's tea-time cravings, but honestly, most of them still made his sugar rise. I found that roasted makhana or chana works much better at home. It is best to check with your doctor before buying those commercial diabetic crackers.

I used to stress out completely whenever my diabetic mother ate even one cracker, thinking it would ruin her levels. But her doctor reassured us that a couple of multigrain, unsalted crackers are totally fine as an occasional snack. Just keep an eye on the portions.

As a pure vegetarian who watches nutrition closely, I find most store-bought crackers contain refined flour and hydrogenated oils, which are bad for insulin sensitivity. Look for baked, whole-grain options or stick to roasted seeds. Always consult your dietitian first.

I don't know much about the medical side, but in my own experience, plain soda crackers always cause a quick spike on my sugar monitor. I had to cut them down. I'd suggest asking your doctor to see how they fit into your personal lifestyle.

If you look at the macro breakdown on tracking apps, many crackers are surprisingly high in simple carbs. If you must have them, pair them with peanut butter or paneer to slow down glucose absorption. Definitely discuss your snack limits with your physician.

Most diet crackers taste like cardboard anyway, so you probably won't want to overeat them! Jokes apart, they can have hidden starches. Check the nutrition label carefully or just ask your doc if you can have them with your evening chai.
