Are cracked heels a sign of diabetes?

I've noticed my heels are quite cracked and dry lately, even though I try to moisturize them. My brother has diabetes and told me to get checked, saying it could be a sign. Is this a common symptom of diabetes, actually?

Please do not ignore this symptom. I thought my cracked heels were just dry skin, but they turned into a deep, painful diabetic ulcer because of poor circulation. Go get your fasting blood sugar tested and consult a doctor immediately to be safe.

Cracked heels can happen due to lack of moisture or putting too much pressure on your feet during walks. If your doctor clears you for normal exercise, regular walking with good cushioned shoes helps circulation. But do get a proper medical checkup first.

I love my sweets too much, so any skin change makes me worry about diabetes! While cracked heels can just be from dry weather, it's a good reminder to watch our sugar intake. Go see a doctor and get tested so you can eat peacefully.

Honestly, I barely have time to sleep, let alone worry if my dry feet mean my glucose is high. But jokes apart, diabetic neuropathy can cause dry feet, so if you are constantly tired and thirsty too, definitely go get a blood test done.

Whoa, let's not jump straight to diabetes just because your heels are dry! Sometimes it's just our beautiful Indian dust and cheap slippers. Moisturize them first, but yeah, a basic sugar test won't hurt if you want to be sure.

My mother used to say applying sesame oil before sleeping heals all cracks. However, diabetic dry skin is real because of nerve changes. I advise you to apply a good cream but also definitely visit your family doctor for a routine sugar check.
