Are corn tortillas ok for diabetics?

My grandson likes corn tortillas, and I often make them for him. Since I have diabetes, I'm always careful about what I eat. Can I occasionally enjoy corn tortillas without affecting my blood sugar levels too much?

Dealing with insulin resistance due to PCOS, I have to be very careful with carbs. Pure corn tortillas can be okay in moderation, but I always pair them with a lot of fiber and protein to prevent sudden sugar spikes. Try tracking how your body reacts after eating them.

Corn tortillas generally have a lower glycemic index than regular white flour tortillas, making them a better choice. However, how they affect your blood sugar depends entirely on your overall diet and portion size. It is always best to consult your doctor or a registered dietician to plan your specific meals.

My dad has diabetes and he eats these sometimes when we make wraps at home. They seem way better than regular maida wraps, but he still limits himself to just one or two. I think balance is key, na?

When you have thyroid or diabetes, simple things like tortillas can still affect your metabolism differently. I highly suggest getting your HbA1c and thyroid panels done regularly. Do talk to your physician before adding any new starch-heavy items to your daily diet.

Our bodies are beautiful systems that respond well to natural foods in moderation. If eaten mindfully and with a calm mind, corn can be a good energy source. Just keep a positive attitude, do your regular walking, and let your doctor guide your diet plan.
