Are cold sores and fever blisters the same thing?

I keep getting these small, painful blisters around my mouth when I'm stressed or sick. My mom calls them 'fever blisters,' but my friend said they are 'cold sores.' Are cold sores and fever blisters the same thing?

Yes, they are the exact same thing, both caused by the herpes simplex virus. Keep the area clean and avoid touching it.

I know how scary it is when you suddenly see a blister on your lip and start searching online. Don't worry, they are just different names for the same minor issue. It happens to so many of us when our immunity is a bit low.

Actually yaar, they are 100% the same thing, just different names. Don't stress too much about it, just don't pop them or they will spread even more.

Yes, they are the same. I usually apply a little coconut oil or tea tree oil diluted with water to dry them out. But if the pain is severe or if it spreads near your eyes, please visit a doctor immediately.

From what I have read, they are the same issue caused by a common virus that flares up when we are stressed. Since my immunity behaves weirdly due to hormonal issues, I am always careful and check with my doctor if they don't heal in a week.

It used to make me feel so self-conscious and embarrassed to go out when I had these breakouts on my face. Just remember it is very common and they are the same thing. Give yourself some grace and rest up.

Haan na, people get so confused with these different English terms. They are the same thing, locally we just call them lip blisters. Just apply some ice gently, it helps reduce the burning.

Yes, medically they refer to the same viral infection. You can apply an over-the-counter antiviral cream as soon as you feel that familiar tingling sensation to speed up healing.
