Are chickpeas bad for diabetics?
My doctor told me to cut down on certain carbs to manage my diabetes. I love eating chana (chickpeas). So, I wanted to know, are chickpeas bad for diabetics?

Not at all bad! Chickpeas have a low glycemic index, so they are actually great for blood sugar levels. Enjoy your chana chaat guilt-free! 🥗
Don't blindly believe that chickpeas are a cure or totally safe for everyone. While they have fiber, they still contain carbohydrates that can raise blood sugar if eaten in large portions. Get your HbA1c checked and ask your doctor about portion sizes.
They are a great source of complex carbs and plant protein. I usually have a bowl of chana salad and go for a brisk 20-minute walk after the meal. It really helps keep the blood sugar spike in check, try it if your doctor allows normal exercise.
I have both high BP and borderline diabetes. Chickpeas are fine, but how you cook them matters. Don't make them with too much oil and salt, as high sodium is bad for blood pressure. Keep monitoring your parameters regularly.
Chickpeas are generally safe and nutritious, but body types react differently, especially if you have thyroid issues along with diabetes. Keep checking your thyroid levels and blood sugar every three months to adjust your diet with your doctor.
My father was recently diagnosed with diabetes and we are very confused about what to cook. Are boiled chickpeas okay to give him in the evening, or will it increase his sugar levels suddenly? Please let me know if anyone has tried this.
Haan na, log bolte hain carbohydrate hai toh nahi khana chahiye. But actually, boiled black chana or kabuli chana is very good because of the fiber. Bas heavy masala and oil avoid karo.
