Are cavities genetic?

Both my parents had a lot of dental issues and cavities. I'm wondering if this means I'm more prone to them. Are cavities genetic?

Yes, genetics can definitely play a role in how strong your enamel is! 🧬 But don't worry, keeping up a good brushing routine still makes a huge difference! 👍

Genetics can give you softer enamel or deeper grooves, but it's nothing to worry about. Just make sure you brush twice daily and keep your checkups regular. I'm here if you need any help finding a good dentist.

Your genetics might make you slightly more susceptible, but realistic dental care is what actually controls it. Don't overthink the genetic part—just floss daily and schedule your regular cleanups to stay ahead of any issues.

My dentist explained that genes influence our salivary flow and enamel thickness, which can make some people more prone to decay. But lifestyle and sugar intake are still the primary drivers, so maintaining strict oral hygiene is key.

While weak enamel can run in families, you can strengthen your teeth naturally by rinsing with warm sesame oil and eating mineral-rich foods. However, if you already have deep decay, please see a doctor for a proper dental filling.

Honestly, don't stress too much about genetics, yaara! Even if your parents have weak teeth, a solid brushing habit and skipping late-night sweet cravings will keep your smile perfectly safe. You're doing great!
