Are cavities curable?

My dentist just told me I have a small cavity. I'm hoping it's something that can just heal on its own. Are cavities curable without a filling?

Bro, once a proper cavity hole forms, you can't cure it at home with random hacks. You literally have to go to a dentist and get it filled. It's super chill and takes like 20 minutes, so don't stress.

I was looking this up and apparently, if it's just initial demineralization, you can reverse it with fluoride. But once it breaks the enamel and becomes a real physical cavity, only a dentist can fix it with a filling.

I am a bit new to dental issues and quite nervous about it. Everyone says we need fillings, but can the tooth heal on its own if I clean it really well? Or is a dentist visit absolutely necessary?

Please don't delay treatment thinking it will heal. I tried waiting out a small cavity and it reached the root, causing severe pain and requiring an expensive root canal. Go see a doctor and get it filled before it complicates further.

I literally spend hours worrying if my tiny tooth spots are going to rot my entire jaw! But they are totally treatable with simple fillings. Just take a deep breath and go get it checked, you've got this and it's going to be completely fine!

My dentist explained that early-stage enamel decay can be remineralized using prescription fluoride gels. However, once decay reaches the dentin layer, it's irreversible and must be cleaned and filled. It is best to get a clinical exam to see which stage you are in.

Don't fall for YouTube videos claiming they can cure deep cavities with coconut oil or turmeric. Once there is physical decay, those remedies are useless. Go verify with a proper dentist and get a professional filling done.

I completely understand how overwhelming and scary it feels to think about dental procedures. Your anxiety is totally valid. The good news is that cavities are very easily treated with simple fillings, so a quick visit to a gentle dentist will resolve it and ease your mind.
