Are cashews bad for kidney stones?

I've had kidney stones in the past, and I'm trying to avoid them recurring. Are cashews known to be bad for kidney stones, or can I still enjoy them occasionally?

Hey, so if you are prone to calcium oxalate kidney stones, you might want to be careful with cashews. They are actually quite high in oxalates, which can bind with calcium and form stones. It is best to limit them and drink plenty of water to help flush your system.

My brother suffered from severe kidney stones, and we had to change his diet completely. We stopped giving him cashews and spinach because they are high in oxalates. Drinking fresh coconut water and warm lemon water daily really helped him recover and prevented new stones.

I have to get regular blood and urine tests because thyroid issues can sometimes affect kidney function. My doctor told me to avoid high-oxalate foods like cashews to prevent any stone formation. Please make sure to get proper medical follow-ups and tests done rather than guessing.

My urologist explained that cashews have a high concentration of oxalates, which are a major component in the most common type of kidney stones. He specifically advised me to avoid cashews, peanuts, and spinach to reduce the risk of recurrence. It is highly recommended to get a stone analysis done to understand your specific risk.

I completely understand how terrifying the thought of kidney stone pain is, it literally kept me awake with anxiety for weeks. Yes, cashews do have high oxalates which can be risky if you are prone to stones. Try to breathe, stay hydrated, and focus on low-oxalate snacks instead.

At my age, my body is like a rusty car and kidney stones are the latest breakdown. My doctor told me no more cashews with my evening tea because of oxalates. So now I just drink water and look at the cashew jar longingly. Better safe than in pain, I guess!
