Are carrots bad for diabetes?

My mother-in-law has diabetes, and we're always very careful with her diet. She loves carrots, but I've heard conflicting opinions about them. Are carrots bad for diabetes because of their sugar content?

There is a lot of misinformation online saying carrots are too sweet and bad for diabetics, which is mostly exaggeration. Raw carrots actually have a low glycemic index and are rich in fiber. Don't change your diet based on random internet blogs; let your doctor or a clinical dietician guide you.

Carrots are not bad at all if you eat them the right way. I always mix grated carrot with some cucumber and a pinch of roasted jeera powder for my husband's evening snack. It is very filling and keeps his sugar levels completely stable.

Grate some raw carrot with a little fresh coconut and curry leaves for a light salad. Nature has made carrots with sweet juice but also lots of good fiber, so it does not harm if eaten in moderation. Keep your body active and drink plenty of water daily.

I used to freak out seeing carrots in my mixed veg sabzi, thinking my sugar levels would shoot up. But after tracking with my glucometer, I realized moderate amounts have almost zero impact on my readings. Don't stress too much like I did, just keep the portions reasonable.

I have been managing both high blood pressure and borderline sugar for five years. Carrots are actually a very healthy snack because they have potassium which helps with blood pressure. Just ensure you are getting your regular HbA1c and BP checkups done every three months.

You don't need to stop eating carrots, just don't drink carrot juice. Eating them whole gives you all the fiber which is great for diabetes. Drinking the juice removes the fiber and leaves only the concentrated sugars, which can cause spikes.

Haan, log faltu mein darr jaate hain ki gajar meetha hai toh sugar badha dega. Aisa nahi hai yaar, limit mein khao toh bilkul safe hai. Raw gajar ka salad plate mein add karo, digestion bhi badhiya rahega aur sugar bhi control rahegi na.

My grandmother always told us that carrots are good for the eyes and general health, even for diabetics. When I asked my doctor, he confirmed that carrots are perfectly fine as long as they are eaten raw or lightly steamed. Just follow your doctor's word on the daily portion size.

Carrots are absolutely fine. The glycemic load of a normal portion of carrot is very low. Stop listening to whatsapp forwards about avoiding veggies and focus on cutting out real culprits like refined sugar, biscuits, and cola.

My dad has had diabetes for ten years and he eats carrots regularly in salads without any issues. Since they have a lot of fiber, they don't cause sudden sugar spikes. Just make sure to eat them raw rather than boiling them too much, as cooking can increase their glycemic response.

I used to ignore my high sugar levels and tried to self-manage by avoiding random veggies like carrots while ignoring my overall lifestyle. I ended up with severe neuropathy. Please, don't focus on single vegetables; go to a doctor, get your regular tests done, and take your prescribed medicines.

I have answered this question for many newly diagnosed friends here. Carrots are rich in vitamin A, beta-carotene, and fiber, making them highly nutritious. Unless you are eating a whole kilo of carrots at once, they will not harm your diabetic diet. Enjoy them guilt-free in your salads.
