Are black beans bad for diabetics?

My doctor recently diagnosed me with diabetes, and I'm trying to understand which foods to avoid. I often eat black beans in my meals. Are black beans bad for diabetics, or can I continue to have them?

From what I've managed with my insulin resistance, black beans are actually quite decent because they are high in protein and fiber. But everyone's body reacts differently. Start with a small portion and see how your body processes them.

Please don't blindly follow food advice on the internet. Some sites say beans are bad, others say they are a superfood. It's always best to ask your own diabetologist who knows your reports and history.

Oh god, I always worry so much before eating any new type of bean. I read they have carbs, which made me panic. But then my friend told me they have complex carbs which release slowly, so maybe they are safe?

I know how stressful it is to constantly worry about what to eat without spiking your sugar; it is mentally exhausting. Black beans actually helped me feel full without guilt, so don't be too hard on yourself while trying them.

Son, in my sixty years, I have realized that natural foods like beans and lentils are rarely bad if cooked simply. Just boil them well with some basic Indian spices and avoid heavy oil. It won't harm you.

Be careful with high-fiber foods if you have any diabetic gastroparesis or kidney issues, as it can cause bad bloating. I had some major complications last year from self-dieting. Do consult your doctor before changing your meals.

When I went for my checkup at Kokilaben Hospital, the clinical dietician told me that legumes like black beans are great due to their low glycemic index. But definitely check with your doctor for your specific daily carb limits.

Hey, my dad has diabetes and we actually make black bean salad for him sometimes. It's pretty chill and hasn't caused any crazy sugar spikes for him. Just watch the portion size, don't eat a mountain of it.

I manage my diabetes very strictly and black beans have been a safe addition for me. They have a slow digest rate which prevents sudden spikes, but make sure not to pair them with a large portion of white rice.

Though black beans are widely considered healthy, it's safer to monitor your blood glucose levels with a glucometer before and after eating them. Safety first, so let your personal readings guide you.

Listen, don't stress too much about every single ingredient, okay? Black beans are generally super healthy because of the high fiber. Just enjoy them in a moderate amount as part of a balanced meal.

Black beans are sometimes a bit expensive in local Indian markets. I usually stick to rajma or black chana which are cheaper and have a very similar nutritional profile. Saves money on groceries while keeping sugar in check.
