Are beets bad for kidney disease?

My father has been diagnosed with kidney disease, and we're very careful about his food intake. We used to eat a lot of beetroot, but now I'm worried if beets are bad for someone with kidney problems.

Bhaiya, chukandar mein thodi garmi aur potassium jyada hota hai, toh kidney ki bimari mein ise bachkar khana chahiye. Humare yahan bolte hain ki aisi haalat mein doctor sahab se pooch kar hi koi sabzi shuru karni chahiye.

I completely panicked when my father's reports showed kidney issues and I read online that beets are bad. Actually, they are high in oxalates, which is why doctors tell kidney patients to avoid them. Once we cut them out and followed the doctor's diet chart, his levels became much better, so don't worry.

Honestly, keeping track of what's good or bad for kidneys is keeping me awake more than my coffee. But yes, beetroots are high in oxalates and potassium, so they are generally a no-go for kidney issues. Better to stick to what the specialist says so you can sleep peacefully.

Hey, don't stress too much about this. If you or a family member has kidney issues, just avoid beets for now and ask your doctor in the next appointment. There are plenty of other tasty, safe vegetables you can enjoy in the meantime!

My son had some temporary kidney filtering issues last year, and the doctor strictly told us to avoid high-potassium foods like beetroots and spinach. It is very important to protect their kidneys when they are already weak. Please consult your pediatrician or nephrologist first.

Yes, for anyone with chronic kidney disease (CKD), beetroot is usually restricted because of its high potassium and oxalate content. It can load the kidneys too much. Please consult your renal dietitian to get a personalized food list.
