Are avocados kidney friendly?
My husband has chronic kidney disease, and we are always looking for kidney-friendly foods. Someone mentioned avocados are healthy, but I want to double-check. Are they safe for someone with kidney issues?

Please be very careful with this. My brother had kidney issues and was told to strictly avoid avocados because of their high potassium levels, which can put a load on weak kidneys. You must consult a nephrologist before eating them.
I read that avocados are super high in potassium, which might be bad for kidneys. Does anyone else get worried about this while eating them, or is a small amount fine?
Well, they are great for your toast, but maybe not so friendly if your kidneys are struggling! Since they pack a lot of potassium, it is best to keep them on hold and ask your doc first.
If your kidneys are completely healthy, avocados are great. But if you have high BP or kidney disease, the high potassium can be tricky. Always monitor your kidney function tests regularly and discuss your diet with your physician.
My son has renal diet restrictions and we had to cut down on avocados completely. The doctor said high potassium foods are a big no-no for weak kidneys. Please get a proper diet chart made by your hospital.
