Are apples ok for diabetes?

My doctor recently diagnosed me with borderline diabetes. I'm trying to control my sugar levels with diet. I heard fruits can be tricky, so I'm wondering if apples are a good choice.

I was actually researching this for my mom yesterday! From what I read, apples have a low glycemic index and are packed with fiber, which is great. They seem totally fine as long as you don't overdo the quantity.

Yes, absolutely. Apples are perfectly fine for diabetics because the fiber slows down the absorption of sugars. Just eat the whole fruit with the skin, and avoid processed apple juice which is just liquid sugar.

Yes, they are great! 🍎 My grandmother has diabetes and her doctor highly recommends a small apple as an evening snack. It keeps her full and sweet cravings satisfied safely! 😊

I started having a small apple daily, but my fasting sugar was a bit high today. Did anyone else notice any minor spikes after eating apples, or could it be due to something else? I am a bit worried about continuing them.

Apples are fine, but please make sure you are regularly monitoring your HbA1c levels. I once ignored my rising blood sugar symptoms, thinking eating healthy fruits like apples would fix it, and ended up with complications. Get a proper checkup done.

They are a very practical snack for busy workdays. When you are diabetic, carrying a whole apple prevents you from ordering canteen junk when hungry. Keep it simple—one small apple a day is perfect.
