Are antibiotics hard on your liver?

I'm currently taking antibiotics for a stubborn infection, and I've started feeling a little unwell, almost nauseous. I'm concerned about my liver health. Are antibiotics hard on your liver, and what symptoms should I watch out for?

Haan na, heavy doses sometimes make you feel so weak and bloated. My family doctor always says that liver has to work extra hard to process these heavy meds. Make sure you don't take random painkillers with them without asking, ho na? It just adds more load on the liver.

Yes, some antibiotics can be quite heavy on the liver, especially if taken for a long time. Since I have thyroid issues, I have realized how important it is to keep checking organ functions. It is always better to get a routine LFT (Liver Function Test) done if your doctor prescribes long courses, just to be on the safer side.

Honestly, strong medicines can take a toll on our system, including the liver. That is why I always try to eat very simple, light home-cooked meals like khichdi and take plenty of curd or buttermilk while on antibiotics. But definitely consult your doctor first before modifying your diet or starting any course.

Bro, high doses of antibiotics can definitely mess with your gut health and put thoda load on the liver. When I am on medication, I cut down on heavy supplements and focus on clean, light meals and lots of water. Just let your body rest and recover first before hitting the gym hard again.

I literally start overthinking every time I have to take a capsule, thinking about what it is doing to my liver and kidneys. But actually, most short courses are totally fine for healthy people. Still, if you feel unusually tired, nauseous or notice dark urine, please check with your doctor immediately just to calm your mind.

If your doctor has prescribed a long course, it is wise to plan your budget for a basic liver function test too. Getting these tests done at a local lab doesn't cost much, maybe around 500-800 rupees, and it gives you peace of mind. Prevention is always cheaper than treating a big issue later.

I agree with others, they can be tough on the system. Just make sure you never skip the probiotic capsule if your doctor has prescribed it alongside.
