Are all fever blisters herpes?

I sometimes get small, painful blisters around my mouth, especially when I'm stressed. My mother calls them 'fever blisters'. Is it true that all fever blisters are a form of herpes, or are they just common cold sores?

Most fever blisters are indeed caused by the herpes simplex virus, but you shouldn't self-diagnose. I always prefer going to a proper hospital like Max or Fortis and asking the doctor directly. They can run a quick swab test to give you an accurate diagnosis.

Honestly, I got so scared when I first got a blister on my lip during exams. But then my senior told me it is super common and usually triggered by stress or fever. It goes away on its own in a week, so dont panic.

Fever blisters, commonly known as cold sores, are typically caused by the HSV-1 virus, which is highly prevalent and different from the genital strain. However, other conditions like canker sores or severe dry chapping can look similar. A dermatologist's clinical evaluation is the best way to be certain.

I used to get these cold sores very often and tried putting turmeric paste, ice, and honey on them. While honey helps soothe the burning, I found that prescription antiviral creams work much faster. Don't scrub them as it only spreads the infection.

I recently got a small blister on my lower lip and I am a bit scared to ask my parents about it. Is it safe to just use normal vaseline on it, or will that make the blister worse? Please help.

Actually yaar, don't worry, it is extremely common and almost everyone has this virus dormant in their system. It just pops up as a blister when your immunity goes down during a fever. Just use a doctor-prescribed cream and it clears up fast.

I get these occasionally during high-stress project deliveries. Yes, clinically they are mostly related to HSV-1, but there is no need to overcomplicate it. Just apply a soothing gel recommended by a doctor and don't touch or pop them, it saves recovery time.

My immunity is often low due to my thyroid fluctuations, which makes me prone to these lip blisters. Whenever I get a breakout, I consult my doctor for the right ointment and also get my thyroid levels checked. Regular tracking really helps manage these flare-ups.

I woke up with a painful tingling bump on my upper lip today and I am really stressed. Does it mean I have a permanent virus now? Has anyone else here dealt with this and how long does it take to fade completely?

I have dealt with cold sores for ten years now. They are usually caused by HSV-1, which is nothing to be ashamed of as a huge population has it. My tip is to start applying the prescribed antiviral cream the exact moment you feel that initial tingling sensation, it stops the blister from growing big.
